THE ONE REASON YOU CAN’T GIVE UP!
THE ONE REASON YOU CAN’T GIVE UP!
January 8, 2023
Ahhh its a new year, can you believe it 2023? As I was working on promoting the site, (yeah the one you’re on right now lol), I was thinking about how one of my greatest assets in running this site is time itself.
The reason why time itself can be a valuable asset is because resources that could assist literally take time to be created and available to you.
With the update that came with Squarespace, they easily make quality marketable videos that catches potential consumers in a blink of an eye. Normally we would have to work several programs for creating promotional videos, some that wouldn’t even be more than a minute.
However, Squarespace now have a whole studio tool where you literally pick a product from your inventory and they make endless combinations of images, videos, and .gifs!
Imagine if I would’ve been sulking years ago when this didn’t exist. Imagine if I would’ve complained about how I didn’t have the money or knowledge to get proper promotion for my site, I would’ve gave up losing on potentially millions of dollars, Worse than losing the money, I would’ve lost my pride and became an infinite loser, probably spending my days hating on another entrepreneur who didn’t quit.
This stretches beyond my site, it was very useful in my music itself. Without technological advances through time, I would’ve never created the music that I wanted to make.
Access to new loops, my cell phone, and different recording software allowed me to take my music in my hands and not rely on another soul to get my stuff poppin.
Now I’m actually doing performances and made money from my music but if I didn’t allow the divine actions of time to work itself, I would’ve quit and would’ve hated and blamed people because I didn’t take my career in my own hands.
So the reason that you may not be where you wanna be isn’t because of your ability to work, skill, or any other merit based factor. It may simply because what you need doesn’t exist yet! So keep going, learn the lessons you’re supposed to learn, and in due time, time will be on your side!

"POP WAS THE KING OF NEW YORK, NOW I'M THE ONE IN CHARGE"
"POP WAS THE KING OF NEW YORK, NOW I'M THE ONE IN CHARGE"
February 18, 2022
The King of New York is one of the most controversial titles in hip hop. Even Nas once said “There's more shit than wanting to be this King of New York shit”. However its still one of the most coveted titles in hip hop because New York was once the mecca of hip hop (which we all know is Atlanta now). There has been many kings of NY, including but not limited to: B.I.G., Hov, 50, just to name a few but for a while that title went void and almost became meaningless. With Atlanta currently having their foot, hand, and Draco on the rap game’s neck, New York didn’t have a true hometown hero they could rally behind for the masses because most NY artists had to keep up with the modern sound to stay relevant.
I.YOU CANNOT SAY POP AND FORGET THE SMOKE!
Then came along the Canarsie MC, POP SMOKE. Pop had all the makings of a superstar and was clearly getting ready to be the undisputed king of NY Hip Hop due to being a pioneer of Brooklyn Drill + His aura that was reminiscent of Get Rich or Die Tryin’ 50. When Pop met his untimely demise it felt like once again the King of NY seat would be empty for a while. Lil TJay snuck in some hits, Kay Flock is leading the charge in the Bronx, but are they King of NY material? Who knows beloved. But there is one name that had the potential to take the throne and that is frequent Pop Smoke collaborator and fellow Brooklynite, Fivio Foreign.
II.VIRAL
Fivio may have seem like another notch on the belt which is drill rap but then he got the biggest feature on the critically acclaimed, DONDA album by Kanye West. The track “Off the Grid” which also features Playboi Carti, gives Fivio Foreign the most blatant headstart for a musical run, since 2chainz on “Mercy”. Once the beat switches to the signature Drill slider synth, Fivi goes off for probably 32+ bars of simple but effective lyrics.
That Fivi verse on Off the Grid put him on a whole new radar, next thing you know features everywhere! Also, most of the songs are being tailored to him so he can give that same crushing flow from ”Off the Grid”. Once he dropped “City of Gods” w/ Alicia Keys & Ye, he officially made his claim for the throne,
“Pop was the king of New York, Now I’m the n***** in charge”.
Ok! we all know you have to say it first before we believe it right?! So once he said that he officially placed himself under extreme scrutiny. At this point, we know Fivi is the best doing drill rap right now but what would he have to do to take that King of NY title? A Lot!! He has to have people wanna emulate him, his presence has to be everywhere, but most imporantly that first album has to be a classic!!!
Beyond this point is where I acquired new info for the article after its original written date.
III.B.I.B.L.E. TALK
Fivio Foreign dropped his debut studio album, B.I.B.L.E., April 8, 2022. Let me be the first to say the album is……NOT a classic. It starts off cool and he tries to step out on certain songs but it just don’t capture you like it should. Its definitely a strong debut I would say because he can only go up from here but now we have to ask, can he go up from here? Was “Off the Grid” just a moment? B.I.B.L.E. was apparently executive produced by Kanye but is it or me is it hard to see his(Ye) input on this? With all the hype around the album it felt like we should’ve been given way more.
While Fivi’s debut wasn’t bad its not a undisputed instant classic that it should’ve been for a person who claims to be “King of New York”. The throne is still up for grabs in my humble opinion. Who is worthy of it though? Will it be another new young up and comer or will Fivi make me eat my words and take the necessary steps to become the king he wants to be?

LEFTOVERS AND CAREERS
LEFTOVERS AND CAREERS
The other day I was heating up some fries from a restaurant the day before. They tasted disgusting and I wanted to launch them to the capital. I was mad because the day before they tasted so amazing, it was good when it was hot and now it can never reach that same taste again. Heating those fries made me think about artists and their careers, lets explore more.
I. HOT AS FRIES
If you don’t know who 6ix9ine is, its okay he wasn’t that important (no disrespect). However, one would be lying if I didn’t say he was scorching hot at one point. In 2017, Daniel Hernandez, better known as, Tekashi69 or 6ix9ine, took the music world by storm. His aggressive lyrics, one word song titles, and rainbow hair had New York and eventually the rest of the world on smash. In his music, 6ix9ine perpetrated images of gang culture which saturated his music and his lifestyle. He got involved with disputes with some of the most perceived toughest rappers and had ties with a lethal New York gang, all which made him a viral sensation and blew him up to pop success, even earning collaborations with megastars, Kanye West and Nicki Minaj.
But just as quick as he rose to fame, he came down even quicker. Inner turmoil with the gang he was affiliated with led him to a prison sentence and eventually “snitching” to save his tide and return to society. Before he came home everyone wondered would hip-hop listen to an openly known “snitch”? Could anyone take this guy seriously ever again for acting like something he was not?
He almost proved that people would listen to him regardless. He earned the #1 song again with Nicki Minaj and was able to break YouTube records again. However that stint didn’t last long as it seemed people only cared about this young man when he was doing theatrical antics for internet clout. However, seeing someone chasing clout get tiresome after a while and his album release proved it. His album, Tattletales, did make a strong number 4 debut on the Billboard charts but shortly after that it was a ghost silence. Even now at this present moment I don’t hear anything about the young man, its almost as if he fell of the face of the earth.
His career was like those fries from the restaurant, came in scorching hot but when it was time to heat things back up, it just didn’t hit the same.
II. THANKSGIVING LEFTOVERS
However, microwave food isn’t so bad. Take for instance thanksgiving leftovers. Yeah its not as hot and fresh as it was when it was first prepped but it still hit the next day. That’s how I think about someone like Jay-Z. Jay isn’t at his peak like he was during The Blueprint era but he always has music you can go back to and get something from. His album Vol 2. Hard Knock Life, its like a plate of macaroni and cheese you can never get enough of it. Just like when Thanksgiving is over the leftovers still slap, that’s how Jay music is. You can’t recapture the feeling when The Black Album drop but its always there, waiting for you to load it back up and its still gonna hit your soul like you want it to.
III. CONCLUSION
Artists should strive for longevity over everything, if they take the music business serious. If you only want a fleeting moment and you’d rather take all the accolades and limelight on the front end, maybe you’re just a side dish of fries, who won’t be good to anyone the next day.
But if you always want a special place in people’s heart, be something people can debate over all while being something that brings people together? Then you want to be a thanksgiving meal baby!

GOTTA LOVE WHERE YA AT - TRACKLISTING
CONSUMING SHOULD PROMPT ACTION
CONSUMING SHOULD PROMPT ACTION
In this world of overachievers and plain old doers, sometimes being a consumer can get a bad rep. Even though it is consumers that allow businesses and especially entrepreneurs to thrive.
You often hear people debate about producer vs consumer. Consumption only becomes a problem if there is too much consuming without producing. Consuming should prompt action eventually.
Take for example, this weekend when I was watching Netflix’s Carole & Tuesday, an anime about two girls and their come up in the music industry. While watching the show I was so intrigued about the world building, characters, and the music.
While taking all that in, I was inspired to make new music that is directly influenced from the show. That’s what being a consumer is about. A person can’t be a producer without someone to consume the content (well they can but it would fall on deaf ears).
I didn’t just consume consume consume, I took something as pure entertainment and allowed it to naturally spark action for me to take.
Now I found a new fav show and made new music, that my listeners are sure to enjoy! (My new album, Gotta Love Where Ya At out Jan. 2020.)
