Meant to write this last week but I got busy boy lmao. Anyways, a thought came to me once the numbers came back for Glorilla’s new album and Meg announced a new album soon after. If you don’t Glorilla dropped a stellar debut album that is beloved by fans and critics.

The album got hits on hits, “Whatchu Know About Me’ w/ Sexyy Red, “Let Her Cook”, and of course “TGIF”. The word of mouth and anticipation culminated into a top 5 debut for Ms. Woods and she did around 65K first week. Which is excellent for her ! For comparison, the other big dog leading the way in rap, Latto, only did 29K, a number that is not reflective at all of her current place in the game.

That had me thinking the female rap totem pole is getting rearranged a bit, because Meg still the biggest name after Nicki & Cardi, but is she swimming in dangerous waters? Megan new album debuted with 64K and Glorilla was an opener on her tour. Now I didn’t think nothing of that but then when Meg came back with an announcement of her album just when Glo dropped I was like damn that’s kinda soon. I know she probably had minimum control behind this but I was thinking damn don’t you want to give your girl some breathing room to let her album tear the streets up for a minute. Especially when you already dropped.

Glorious, the debut album by Glorilla out now

I was thinking maybe this new Meg album was only dropping as a move to display dominance. I think the plan is regardless the numbers, come back so she can get a “Number one” album to help keep her prestige as an artist. This shouldn’t matter but I don’t think anyone in Meg’s corner would want her opener selling more than her or challenging her position in any way.

I don’t want to be the one to push a negative narrative, its just a thought I had beloved, but I’m shocked I saw no one mentioned this. Now the questions is what if this doesn’t do the numbers that it supposed to do either? Is there a hit to her perception? Its not like people don’t think she can rap and from what I seen people are enjoying Act II (I haven’t heard it yet) but Meg may be in her space where her looks are superseeding her music. While Big Glo is becoming a legit staple in music. I believe she won’t do lower than what she did for a while, that last project was a break out.

If Meg isn’t trying to get into a pissing contest with Glo then that’s good for her and I want there relationship to continue to flourish but if this deluxe drop was a spite move, this could potential be the first step off the ledge for a fall from grace.
