I.EVERYDAY I’M HUSTLING
In these survival days, hustling is all that really matters, and people hustles varies from person to person. No matter what hustle it is, don’t get greedy and start being super tax man, this is mostly in reference when dealing with celebrities.
You may have saw the video where Meek Mill is attempting to purchase the Nike SB x Air Jordan IVs (man those are some beauties) and the guy on the video wants to charge Meek the tax price. Meek urges that he can get the sneakers at retail from the store, so why would he pay him the tax price plus if he would’ve showed love, Meek would’ve been incentivized to shop even more with the young bull.
First, Meek is capping, you can’t get those sneakers at retail, maybe a lower price than what buddy was selling them for but they will be above retail, too much hype around them. These days everything work off hype. If you don’t get them at release you ain’t getting them without paying the resale ticket, unless the shoe sat on the shelf, you might get an under retail price.
Secondly, his point still stands and he’s absolutely correct in theory. Taking off shoe guy and putting it on general hustlers for a minute. When you are selling a product and its fire and consistent, eventually you will catch the eye of a celebrity, maybe multiple.
II.SHOW YOU HOW TO DO THIS SON!
I can attest to this personally multiple times, I’ll just use one example for now. Some years ago I drew a pic of YG and Kamaiyah. YG dm’d me about purchasing it you know of course I was excited. This was in early corner days too, so I first started getting celebrity attention/recognition. Before I could respond you know I told some of my people.
You know what they said instantly after I told them the news. “You need to charge him a band”, “Oh yeah he gotta at least drop 4Hunnid on the pic”, and other nonsense.
No disrespect to the people that told me this but this is why people can’t scale up because they wanna do stupid stuff like that and tax for no reason.
III.CAN’T TEACH NO ONE HOW TO HUSTLE..
Just because someone’s a celebrity do not mean you charge unwarranted high prices, it instantly throws smut on your name and can close doors that you ain’t even noticed that was opened. Let me explain why I didn’t tax YG in the first place.
1) the picture was only 8” x 10”, 2) that is a small picture , and 3) it was a sketch without much detail. It was colored and great in my style but my pricing is always on what I would pay for it. Also, the bigger the size the more it is reasonable to charge high prices.
I wouldn’t pay over a few hundred for a small picture unless it was by an artist whose work was unattainable, if it was to personally support an artist I know, or if it is extremely detailed but the canvas chosen is just small.
This particular picture did not fit my laid in criteria, if any normal person wanted that same picture I wouldn’t have charged them more than $50 at that time. Now he never followed through on the purchase but imagined if I would’ve came at him saying give me a rack for this. If he’s smart with his money, he would’ve instantly been off put and possibly stopped any other doors that could’ve been opened.
When it comes to celebrities you have to think more than the money, they carry an audience. Why do you think they get so many free items in the first place? They are walking billboards plus they can actually employ if you’re actually dope enough.
That YG interaction I had could’ve went a thousand ways, now it didn’t go anywhere but I definitely wouldn’t had helped if I came out the gate thinking “get as much money as I can out of him.” That’s short sighted, fast-money, flip everything thinking. You may get a payday but you lose out on the long term. I couldn’t play myself like that in life I think in long term for everything!! Its how I maintained the patience and faith to become a lawyer and run this website because there are extreme peaks and valleys!
So if you got a hustle going on learn from that vid with Meek and this article. Think about the bigger opportunity, think about what is attached to a person with clout, how doors can be opened if you treat this rare interaction the way its supposed to go. Don’t lose out your blessings beloved, Get money..

IS 3M THE BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO SNEAKERS?
IS 3M THE BEST THING TO HAPPEN TO SNEAKERS?
Probably Not, but they are a super cool material, but I never knew why? All I can recall is people making a big fuss over any sneaker that had 3M on it. For those who don’t know, 3M is reflective fabric, that is typically used at night for safety workers. However, the sneaker world has made 3M be featured on some of the most classic sneakers ever.
If I can recall my first 3M encounter was with the Air Jordan XIII. Seeing that was probably way cooler to me because I was younger and then I saw it on the Air Jordan V I had in high school and it had me an awe. Again I do not know why its just literally cool.
I’m not the only one who shares this love for 3M, even Action Bronson talked about the importance of 3M in one of the latest episodes of COMPLEX’s SNEAKER SHOPPING. He talked about the reflective ‘N” on a New Balance sneaker. He specifically said, “When you taking pictures and you with a bunch of people and they don’t have the “N” thats reflective, you’re gonna stand out aka you’re beamin’ or you shinin’”. “If you’re running of course they’ll see you but if you’re taking pictures…wooooo.”
And with that said I think I finally found out why I love 3M on sneakers so much. It helps you stand out, plain and simple. Like Action Bronson said, “you’re beamin or shinin’”. Its nothing like “beamin’ or shinin”, that’s why we getting car washes, or buy jewelry, you get an extra glow when you’re shining and that’s exactly what 3M helps you do.

THE HOLD OUT
THE HOLD OUT
Not too long ago I was thinking about the concept of “holding out”. Its kinda crazy you can receive everything you want by refusing to give a person what they want, UNTIL, you get what you want (did that make you head hurt yet?).
This thought was sparked when I was listen to an episode of Flagrant 2, a comedic sports podcast that push the envelope so far the seal should be nonexistent.
A point was made by the lead host, Andrew Schulz, that the NBA players should refuse to resume the NBA season until the NBA gives everything the players demands. He went on to say with all the progress and attention being made for social injustice towards black people, why not squeeze the rag dry?
The Tactic of holding out only works when the person holding out is valued more than the other person.
NBA players probably aren’t holding out because the season has already been set to resume and so far from what I’ve seen the player who chose to opt-out did so for safety precautions, not for revolutionary movements.
NBA players COULD hold out because what is the NBA without its players. What is Adam Silver going to be Zion all of a sudden? I don’t think so beloved. So the ball would be in the players court (no pun intended) and they could hold Adam Silver and the owners hostage until the changes they want to see in the NBA are made.
You can also relate this concept to when a girl holds out on sexual relations with a guy. Usually it’s a guy pressed to take things to the next level and he’s willing to meet any demands, if it finally means a night in paradise.
In this case the woman is more valued and depending on the type of woman she is she can get him to hop through rings of fire just for a sniff.
Most times a woman may use a hold out to ensure commitment, unfortunately holding out doesn’t guarantee commitment. If you’re dealing with a guy with options and he choose to exercise those options, you as the woman will look foolish in the end.
So as with anything you have to be cautious with the hold out tactic because you hold out too long, you will be replaced whether its on the court or it’s someone being courted.

NIKE AND THE ILLUSION OF PARTNERSHIP
NIKE AND THE ILLUSION OF PARTNERSHIP
Recently Kawhi Leonard filed a lawsuit against Nike over his “Klaw “ logo. For those unaware, Kawhi Leonard is a basketball player that currently plays for the Toronto Raptors.
According to Sports Illustrated, Leonard alleged that NIKE filed a copyright registration without the permission of Leonard.
Leonard was adamant about the logo used by Nike was an original creation of his and was conceptualized way back during his college days.
He insisted that he only allowed NIKE to use his logo on products on a permissive basis. NIKE was to acknowledge they had no ownership of the logo just limited uses that required Leonard’s permission.
This is where Kawhi went wrong. Kawhi is learning what previous collaborators learned the hard way. NIKE is always gonna look out for NIKE first.
It’s like when Kanye was frustrated doing his “partnership” with NIKE because he wasn’t receiving royalties for his shoes & his collaborations was limited to a pair of sneakers every two years.
When NIKE was finished with Kanye they took his colorways applied them to other shoes with no afterthought about Kanye.
Same with Sean Wotherspoon, who is the owner of ROUND TWO, a vintage store with flagships in Virginia, Miami, NY, and LA.
After, they were released, soon after Sean started teasing samples of what to come next.
First peek at the second wave! Still early on the sample process, and there’s a lot that’s going to change! I’m thinking add some color to the sole, make that air bubble infrared, gotta change the sock liner to yellow, maybe a new color insole?!, fix the denim on the tabs, and do a gradient from light to dark blue instead of all light blue?!? What new patches should I include with this pair?! I couldn’t be happier holding these babies in my hand, can’t wait to see the final sample! So much more dope Nike shit to talk about, can’t wait to tell everyone! 🌊🌊🌊🌊 @nikesportswear @nike
- Sean Wotherspoon
He thought that next was going to come but Nike went “NOPE”. No official explanation given, just the end of a partnership.
However, he did have this to say.
"I’ve been done working with [Nike], at least on another SW collab, for a while. Still lots of good friends there. I help when asked, but being able to spread my wings again is the best feeling ever,"
Well, its best to interpret that as NIKE gave him the boot and instead of being salty about it he took the bigger road to ensure no bridges were burnt.
People were concerned with the partnership when he posted a picture of him in a pair of YEEZY DESERT RAT 500’s.
Who knows what his contract entailed but if Nike let a pair of yeezys stopped them from capitalizing more on the hype from those Sean Wotherspoon sneakers, shame on them.
Moving along, I would like to offer up this quote from Parent-Athlete and master wordsmith, Lavar Ball.
“NO NO CHECK THIS OUT NIKE GAVE THEM… THEY CAN’T TAKE THEY BRAND WITH THEM..”
“IF LEBRON AND KOBE LEAVE NIKE THEY WON’T LET THEM TAKE THE DESIGN”
“THATS THE BRAND NIKE MADE FOR THEM”
Lavar, didn’t tell a single lie. Recently Kobe launched one of his post-retirement ventures, Mamba Sports Academy. The sports academy offers a variety of training programs to Youth and Adults and isn’t limited to Basketball. Its all about embracing the “Mamba Mentality” Kobe possessed on the court. Its the mentality credited for getting Kobe 5 NBA Championships and many other accolades.
This new venture is all built off Kobe likeness and image. People will literally sign up for this camp because Kobe is attached to it. So It was kinda odd, when I saw the new merchandise for the Mamba Sports Academy.
On Eastbay, the items aren’t even listed with Kobe name on them. The first word you see is Nike. It’s clear the sponsorship is with Nike so obviously you will see their name but one word doesn’t feature “Kobe” or at the very least “MAMBA”.
That was a clear sign to me that when it come to these partnerships, NIKE will be prioritized first and if you’re not willing to do that they will easily find someone that will.
Hopefully, Kawhi recovers his Intellectual Property and doesn’t make the same mistake with New Balance. Hopefully there will be clauses in his contract to ensure the proper uses with his logo and that He’ll never have to battle a Corporate Giant again and just focus on his Legacy.

AIR JORDAN I LOW TOP | UNBOXING
PREMIUM DRAFT
PREMIUM DRAFT
In the creative process, there are many steps most of which involved scratching, revising, and deleting ideas. In creating the most iconic shoes in basketball history, designer, Tinker Hatfield is now transcending the design process by having his drafts of iconic shoes be released. How does such a thing happen?
The passage of time is key to making an item legendary/mythical. Once an item reach such status the natural mind is curious to how such an incredible feat came to be. If the creator is open to share then the curious mind will be exposed to all the twists and turns it took to end up where we are today.
Shoes like the Air Jordan III and Air Jordan XIII, are shoes associated with legendary moments in time. Therefore it is natural to want to see how the shoes are birthed. The original is already solidified so the legacy of shoe won’t be tainted when NIKE decided it would be cool to create Tinker’s original drafts of the shoe.
The original draft build upon the legacy of the shoe by allowing the consumer to appreciate the shoe from a different perspective and drives the consumer imagination to think “What if this was the shoe we first came in contact with, how much different would the sneaker world be”?
It will be interesting what other original drafts of classic shoes could be released but for now original drafts from the greatest sneaker designer of all time makes more than a hell of consolation prize.
