ATTENTION CONSUMERS IN THE FREE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, 99% of you know that record sales aren’t what they use to be and the business side of hip hop has changed. Now most of an artist in today’s industry comes from touring and not album sales. But that is not of my concern, my concern is with good albums not being purchased and labels ruining artist by making them so mainstream their music isn’t even listenable anymore.
First concern is with Lupe’s upcoming LP “Lasers”. Lasers was suppose to be release years ago and the label would not comply with the artist way of thinking. Now that the album is finally being released I am skeptical about the quality of the product. I heard a leaked track with Trey Songz and it sounded like a song Lupe wouldn’t dare think to make. Also, the first single"The Shows Goes On" is so mediocre, I thought Lupe was more developed than the quick little beat banger and cliche singing. Then, the second single “Words I Never Said” Ft. Skylar Grey sounds like a predetermined track because she’s been on everyone record singing her face off. But mainly the real question is…..Will Lasers be a good album? If not who is to blame, Lupe or the Label?
Next, good albums are being downloaded illegally instead of being purchased. For example, the original Man on The Moon by Kid Cudi. Everyone who heard the album can concur that’s it’s a classic album. So why isn’t it at least platinum and took a year to go Gold? People claiming they love the music and not supporting the albums. Cudder is suppose to be a multi-platinum selling artist but the people aren’t buying the music. How do we change that? Look at it like this, you buy expensive ass everything that’s 4x the cost of an album. So just include purchasing Good music in your product list and KEEP THE MUSIC ALIVE!!!!!!!!
