In the “final” episode of NARUTO, I realized there was a great lesson for the viewers to take away. Naruto just saved the world (literally) and before then defeated villain after villain. His main goal is still to become Hokage (the village leader) and in order to do so he must achieve the ranks of genin(beginner) to chunin(intermediate) to jonin (expert). He just saved the world from an eternal sleep but he still gets told he has to take a test to become jonin although he’s literally the strongest person in the world.
Which brings us to our lesson, no matter what there’s no shortcut to the end goal. It feels like the universe has some sort of algorithm to prevent all shortcuts because no matter what people rarely get one. If they manage to do get a shortcut whatever they obtain is short lived ( 15 minutes of fame ). Much like Naruto we may have proved to be the smartest, strongest, or whatever it still doesn’t change the fact no one gets to skip the process. I believe the process is there for good reason, if there was a cookie cutter formula it would definitely build a sense of entitlement and we wouldn’t appreciate our goals like we would when we have to work to accomplish them. Naruto didn’t become Hokage until he was 33 and he’s been saying he would become one before he was 12. He’s even been strong enough to be Hokage several times before the age of 20. No matter how much we may feel ready our goals will tell us when we’re ready. The only thing we can do is continue to work and build towards that goal every day and if we do that maybe we can each become Hokages in our own special way.
