The, “I have more rings than LeBron James” jokes could finally end. Congrats to the Big Three, but there’s also another Big Three:
- Mike Miller! It’s great seeing white dudes go off in basketball games, whether it’s knocking down three’s or slamming some sweet dunks. It’s something you see quite often in college basketball, and not so often in the NBA. I was expecting Miller to go bananas in last year’s final.
- Juwan Howard. I’m glad he got in. Finally, a member of the Fab Five, won a title.
- Erik Spoelstra. He broke the, Filipino losing streak. Recently, Jessica Sanchez lost in American Idol and Pacquaio got robbed against Bradley. This is also as close as Filipinos will get to a NBA Championship, since, although we have a great jump shot, we are all five foot seven.
Bandwagon Life
Liking a team, you’re on the bandwagon. The same could be said when you hate a team. People don’t hate the Heat, they hate LeBron. I didn’t think he was going to win with the Cavs. Maybe if he didn’t do the announcement special and not say they’re going to win X amount of titles, maybe people wouldn’t hate him as much. The numbers don’t lie, LeBron James is…actually pretty good. Kobe Bryant is really good as well, but for some reason, people hate him as well? (I still don’t think he raped that girl.)
Who do I not like? The Spurs. I’m not a Spurs fan because the year I moved down to Texas from New Jersey, it was the New Jersey Nets and San Antonio Spurs in the 2003 finals, and Spurs wrecked the Nets.
Growing up a Knicks fan, we’ve hated the Heat since the 1996 playoffs. Alonzo Mourning. Tim Hardaway. Bruce Bowen. Jamal Mashburn. Yeah, people hate the Heat, but people have been hating the Heat since the 90’s!
LeBron James is currently the villain of the NBA. I can’t recall anyone since…Reggie Miller. Yes, the Heat won, but remember, this was a short 60 game season. As for the Thunder, they’re a young team. I’ve been a Kevin Durant fan since his short-lived Texas days. I remember everyone giving him a hard time saying, he’s not going to do well in the NBA. He’s young and same with his crew. Harden really needed to step up but him and his beard just fell asleep this series. Also, I still wish the SuperSonics existed. Their logo and jerseys were one of my favorites.
Until the next season, we’ve got the Olympics and trades going on. I’ll be busy with the latest edition of NBA Jam, and finishing those impossible Jordan challenges in NBA2k11.
